Qualification Method Powder Injected Molded Components

Powder injection molding (PIM) is a process that allows the formation of net shape or near-net shape parts at a reduced manufacturing cost as compared to machining and at a higher precision level than other forming technologies such as casting. Example PIM parts are shown in Figure 1. However, the process is fairly complicated, requiring knowledge from various disciplines to ensure that quality product is manufactured.
